SFCCC welcomes new Director of DPH Barbara Garcia

On May 18th, 2011, the San Francisco Community Clinic Consortium (SFCCC) and our partner health clinics welcomed the new director of the San Francisco Department of Public Health (DPH), Barbara Garcia with a reception at the Mission Neighborhood Health Center (MNHC). SFCCC Board Chair, Dr. Ana Valdes graciously welcomed attendees, while Board Secretary and MNCH Executive Director, Brenda Storey introduced Ms. Garcia. Ms. Garcia has an extensive background in community health, including being the executive director of a federally-qualified health center to various positions within DPH including Deputy Director for Community Programs. Ms. Garcia talked about her goals as Director of DPH for the city of San Francisco, but also her excitement and hope about continuing to strengthen the important relationship between DPH and SFCCC and our partner health clinics. The reception was successful in enabling key clinic and consortium staff to meet with Ms. Garcia and discuss some current issues of mutual concern. Below are pictures taken from the event by volunteer photographer Mr. Jim Gahl.
